Photo of the Day

Have I ever told you about where I live?

No, didn't think so.

How 'bout I share a bit?

I live in this beautiful part of western Maryland that is not too far from the city (40 miles from Baltimore, and about 50 from Washington D.C.) to catch a concert or have a grown up night with the Hubby, but far enough that you don't have to live in an icky neighborhood to have a yard, and you can easily hop, skip, or jump to a farm for strawberry picking in the spring and pumpkin patching in the fall.

It stinks that Hubby has to commute like forever to get to his place of employment, but in many ways it's worth it.

Considering it's not Southern California (oh, how I miss thee!), it's a pretty okay place to live.

What makes it even nicer is that we happen to live in a lake oriented community.

Think private, sandy beaches being kissed by murky, fish filled water. Could be awesome, particularly if you are like under age 15, or gross, if you're me. But, even I (LA girl for life) have to admit that the landscape is easy on the eyes.

But, the kids LOVE it and we spend most of our summer days and evenings sitting at it (or, if you're 7, 4, and 1 submerging you entire person in it while your pond-water-aphobe mother screams, "KEEP YOUR MOUTH CLOSED! DON'T DRINK IT! GRRR!", from the shore.).

The dudes were so stoked to share their wonderland with their cousin who was visiting from CA with their Grandma this weekend.

They all had a blast.

And, sorta, so did I :)!

-->I grew up on lakes in Maryland and Virginia. I'm glad your boys enjoy being in and around them too.

I think that sounds like an awesome place to live. Of course I grew up going to lakes all the time.

Wait, what part of where I thought you lived has lakes and beaches? How did I miss that when I lived there? I wanna go home....

I am from Southern CA as well. Nice to visit, but also nice to escape it, too.

We spent the day yesterday at a VA lake and I have to say, like you, it grossed me out. Ugh. I loved lakes as a kid, but as an adult, while I can appreciate the beauty nothing short of a drowning child will entice me into the water.

ah... the GREAT outdoors!
I'm learning to love being out in the wilderness... for the sake of my children! THEY ADORE it! Sounds like a great place to live!

It looks wonderful.
And check out the "I'm so damn cool" attitude from number 1. Man, life must be hard for you.

You left SoCal? Well, seems like your new place is working nice for you, too!

Love it! Some day I'd love to know how you ended up there.

I bet you don't miss the traffic here in So. Cal!! The Hubs drives 60 miles one way to work and it takes him 3 hours sometimes to get home!

The lake looks like a ton of fun!!
