I've found a lovely new meaning for this phrase.
It's taking over my life and turning me into the brooding-love-sick-boy-crazy teenager I once was.
I used to consider this phrase as simply my natural response to the errant motorist who decided to give me the bird (for no reason at all b/c bad driving is my pet peeve, which naturally means I'm never at fault), or the disgruntled Walmart employee who refuses to allow me to return something that is so obviously from their craptastic store.
These situations provoked me to yell (while in my car with the windows tightly rolled up), or at least think (and possibly mutter as I exited to the parking lot) my favorite phrase: Bite me.
Now, bite me provokes something else entirely.
It causes me to summon images such as this:
Because I am obsessed with the life (or non life, or whatever it is) of Stephenie Meyer's vampires (they are of the fictional sort, please do not leave comments on this post if you are, or think you may be a real life vampire; I'm so not down with that), their werewolf enemies, and their human sidekick.
I tried to avoid it. I made jokes about it. I ridiculed, I teased.
But, alas, I too have fallen victim to the vampire/werewolf/human love triangle elaborated upon in Twilight, and I don't want to be saved.
As a matter of fact, I got a commemorative poster of the cast when I purchased the book. I'm considering posting it alongside my bed (so high school, right), so I can go to sleep and wake up to Edward's intense stare. Think Hubby will go along with that? Yeah, me neither.
There's a possibility that he is jealous of the time I've been spending with this young (hot-alluring-so-easy-to-fall-in-love-with-never-mind-damnation) vampire.
Can not wait until November when I can stand in line (on line?) with all the tweens and teens to be the first to glimpse Edward Cullen (and Bella, but not as much) in the second installment of the film, New Moon.
So. Excited.
And, if you are one of those rare people who read but didn't enjoy the series (I mean, the SAGA), then you can bite me, and I mean that in the traditional sense of the term:).
P.S.Photo courtesy of Summit Entertainment, though wouldn't I love to be a little camera toting fly on the wall wherever they shot this movie?!

Oh my dear, I know what you mean! I got into these just after Christmas and didn't do a damn thing for 2 weeks. So happy you are joining the ranks..LOL!
And hey, what say we make the trek to see the flick together? We'll leave the men AT HOME WITH THE REAL MONSTERS. :)
Hey, my 15 year old has a huge poster on her wall so I have to look at him every time I go in there to find all the towels she stockpiles. I attended the MIDNIGHT PREMIERE of that movie, filled with hundreds of shrieking teens- I still have hearing loss from it- but you're right- dude, the vampire is smoking hot. Coo coo ca choo, Mrs. Robinson! ;)
i guess i'm gonna have to bite you, i totally didn't read it, and at this point, i'm just not going to read it so that i can say i didn't do it cause everyone else did it! (i did the same thing with harry potter)....
i have to plant my feet firmly somewhere in life!
First off I simply must addresss Lov's comment -
Lov darling, I'm all for being an individual and not following the crowds like a blind sheep but girl, when the crowds are taking you to a Magical Happy Place that will ROCK YOUR WORLD, umm....you should go. Really. No one will think less of your coolness - I promise. Heck you don't even have to tell anyone, but I'll bet a pint of B Positive that you'll be bleating the joys of Twilight with the rest of us sheep soon.
Now onto Dumb Mom - ahem...I told you so. ;)
I hope you heeded my advice and bought all 4 books. Crack my friend...good crack.

The worst part is the feeling of sadness when you finish. And the way you can't help but refer to them as real people in conversation.
I mean, that's what I've heard.
Oh man! You've got it bad :)
It's consuming, isn't it!
It's like getting over an addiction and then someone waves it in your face again. I won't go back, I just won't.... LOL!!
oh.. it was such a lovely time in my life.
sigh..
nothing compares..
all other books are whores
Have you read them all? ANd then did you go and read the itty bitty portions of Midnight Sun online?
GO RIGHT NOW.
d
Don't read them, but it cracks me up that my friends are one by one falling for those books! I may have to give in one of these days.
Have you read Hunger Games yet?
Isn't it crazy? I remember last year at this time, running into Twilight every where online. I was like wtf? Then I decided I had to read them because I'd love to write for teens one day. And the bff sacrificed for me too, and we were hooked. HOOKED! I'm totally flying out in NOV to have a girls weekend to see the movie. Why just don't know why I don't own the movie yet? Oh, wait, I would do nothing but watch it.
My mom, knower of all things hip as an 8th grade english teacher, got me hooked on these last spring. We even went to the midnight selling of breaking dawn at the book store. I was ridiculed by everyone, until the movie came out. My mom and I--trendsetters. via 8th grade girls of course.
I am a book lover, and the Twilight series was no different. I just couldn't put them down.
Other great book series that you may like if you liked Twilight:
The Sookie Stackhouse books (now the Trueblood series on HBO)
House of Night Series- very easy & fun read about a vampire high school
You know I still haven't read the books. And I have no idea what I am waiting for. I usually hop on these trains much quicker. I just love a good book. I am adding the book to my Wallmart list this instant!
I haven't read the books, but by this post, you've got me interested! LOL
Following you from SITS! Great site! I'm glad I found you. I am your most recent follower. :)
i don't think you are the only 30+ year old who will be standing in line for that one! I will, in a sense... online! :)
