To the most deserving recipient of Thursday's Thank You so far.
Thank you, and you're welcome.
Card Reads: Dear Horribly Bad Economy, Thank you so much for allowing me to have more time to spend with my family. Due to the fact that you can't get your head outta the toilet, my employer has informed me that I will no longer be as gainfully employed as I once was. They can't afford to keep all of the people like me, and unless you shape up, my status there will remain uncertain (or nonexistent). Normally I would take this out on senior management by flooding their inboxes with well written letters of disdain. However, I realize that this is not entirely their fault. They too are victims of your butt suckiness. And, I would seek another opportunity, but, Economy, it seems you have ruined all of those too. I am unable to locate a reasonable position that pays more than, say, crap. I encourage you to clean up this mess you have made of my life before something bad happens, something that would require me to beat your poor decision making a**. Additionally, please forward this correspondence to all of the idiots you are in cahoots with. Inform them that they, too, have been warned. It's the least you could do. Oh, and, tell War, Politics, and Global Warming to watch their backs; I'm coming for them. Game on. XOXO, Dumb Mom
So, can you tell who's got me red hot this week, Mama Kat?
When I posted the "No Post Post" earlier in the week, I was in the midst of this whole ordeal; feeling down and depressed and pitiful and stuff.
I didn't want to post about it and jinx any hope that I had of salvaging things.
But, now that I know more, I'm letting the cat outta the bag, 'cause I know some of you
The uncertainty was just getting me down a bit, making me all annoyingly self pitying and whiny and gross.
I'm thankful that we don't rely on my income for food, or shelter, or transportation. The stress of that would have been overwhelming, because as it was the fear of losing my handbag budget was almost unbearable.
Over it (not totally, but enough to stop being all Eeyore about it, because I know things in life could be WAY worse).
I have since gotten some promising information. For now, I will be able to work some hours (not exactly how many I want, but it's something) as long as I can change my schedule around some and be (extremely) flexible. Better than canned, I say.
So, I'm moving on, and hopeful that things will work out for me there, or anywhere (highly educated, friendly, dedicated, and reliable employee with tons of experience in many different industries, in case you're lookin') because life without handbags is no life at all (plus, #2 needs to go to preschool and he won't be if this doesn't work itself out).
In other news, I am completely over Jillian's cast off Bachelors.
I totally fell in love last night!
With a vampire!
Go ahead and kick me, but I just discovered the joy of Edward Cullen.
I'm gonna buy the book this weekend and read the hell out of it, so please forgive me if I'm not in top form on the blog in the near future, I'm going to be exhausted from reading and working graveyard shift.
P.S. Thanks for all the well wishes on Monday. You guys are the bestes! And, today's card is courtesy of Duck Duck Goose Designs. If you'd like to win some of your own, click here for my giveaway which ends Friday night!

I hate to break this to you, but you won't be blogging for a long time. There are 4 Twilight books. Each one is better than the last. I didn't do any work around the house for 2 weeks.
I hope the employment sitch gets better soon!
You will love the book and the rest of them! Buy them all, trust me!
This economy does SUCK! I was kind of FORCED to go back to work full time at the beginning of the school year last year as my hubby's income was cut almost in half when he had to change jobs! Before that I had worked part time! I just wanted one more year - to get my baby in preschool! O well! At least we are making it just fine now! Good luck... Things do have a way of working themselves out - one way or another!
Don't worry about Twilight taking too much time - it is a REALLY FAST read! :) But.. good!
Have fun reading!!!
I'm sorry to hear about your job. I know how it feels. I got the same bad news at my job last week.
I think things will get better I just don't know when. Hang in there.
My husband has a union guaranteed 40 hour a week position, and because of the economy his mgt keeps trying to get him to VOLUNTEER to cut his hours.
Er, yeah. We support a family of five on what-for our family size-doesn't even break poverty level. I don't know if the lack of money is making them stupid or if they're just sniffing glue, but I do know this economy is putting pressure on the "little people" everywhere.
Good luck to you =)
The economy is totally sucky. I'm sorry about your job, but you seem to have a pretty good attitude about it. At least better than I would have.
Ech, the economy is a fickle friend. I hope you don't have to screw around with your schedule too much, you probably had it all figured out!
Gave you an award over on my blog. Take it or leave it as I know they can sometimes feel like a pain, but you deserve it and I wanted more people to know about your blog. Plus someone gave me the award and, well, I had to pass it on!
I hope the job front stabilizes for you. Economic woes are the WORST.
Oh PBD, not Twilight.... Another one bites the dust.
I seriously hope the economy takes this letter to heart and decides to change, ASAP. We're all feeling the crunch. (And by crunch I don't mean the good kind, like cereal ... or some kind of chocolate with delicious crunchy pieces.)
I have to say though, I'm disappointed with your Edward Cullen infatuation. That officially makes me one of, like, TWO people left on this earth that just doesn't see the appeal. :(
uh oh...you just found twilight??? talk to you in a month!! and no, it's not weird to ask your husband to play vampire!
I'm so sorry to hear about the job situation. I was a teacher at one point but luckily got out before things went down the crapper. If I had stayed, I would have lost my position due to being a new teacher. Those tend to be the first to go :o(
Enjoy the Twilight books. Sadly I never got into them.
So the job thing sucks. You are right though, it could be worse! I found out the day I returned to work from my honeymoon that I would be losing my job 3 months later. What a gift that was. When hubby said "for richer or poorer" who knew it would be soo soon! I miss my purse allowance too, I have a knack for Coach. Then I found out I was pregnant weeks after I stopped working and for some reason in this economy people don't hire pregnant women! *humph* Here's to stay at home mommyhood and no new purses!
Way to turn Lemons into Lemonaide (or at least turn sucky work hours into vampire novella!)! Go ahead and apologise to your husband and children now- they won't see you until you've finished all four books. But...mmmmmm, Edward! Yummy.
You are jumping on the Twilight train are you???
Big Sis is soooo addicted it is cute and crazy!
I am reading the second book - it 'gasp' don't tell anyone took me a good two months to get around to book number two!!
I like the books they are interesting and easy reads, but I am sad to report I am not Edward crazy!!
I am sorry to hear about your work troubles and I wish you all the best and am glad you are feeling somewhat better about it all.
ahhhhh....to be in love with a fictional character is divine!!!
Ha!....
That is a great letter. I love it!
Have a beautiful day
Funny thing is, I don't like the actor (can't think of his name to lazy to Google it) who plays Edward. Don't even find him remotely cute...but something about Edward and his hot vampirness is just lovely to me. Apparently everyone has vampires on the brain, 'cause me and the dudes were @ the park today and some boy asks a little 5 yr old girl if she was a vampire. Her response: "No, but I have a boyfriend named Edward". No kidding, that's what she said! I was all, really, me too!
I don't know what is worse. Being let go or stuck in limbo knowing you will be let go, but not sure when and yet maybe you won't type of situation. Either way it all sucks. F-it, I say as in the end things always work out and you are right it could be worse. But hey we are allowed our time to grovel and be upset, it's our right.
Our true strenght is tested during this time, the ones who are strong pick themselves up when they are down and purserver.
I hope the job situation works itself out in time. I am the same way...grateful to at least have a job...better than being canned.
You'll have to keep me posted on the read of Twilight....it's sitting on the counter with me yet to start it!
Okay, it's now completely obvious that we are "soul-bloggers"! I never ever miss reading one of your new posts (cause I have a sick sense of humor too), but since (1) I just lost my job effective tomorrow & have been posting some obscenely depressing posts (sorry Blogger friends - I promise to get funny again someday); and (2) I just bought the first Twilight book, there is no doubt that we are kindred spirits!!
Seriously, I sincerely hope things work out with your employment issue. I'm not sure what I'm going to do now that I'm being forced to grow up!
Here from Mama Kat's...so sad about your job, but you have found the perfect medicine to cure what ails you...Enjoy Edward and Bella and the whole wonderful world!
Stop reading this comment right this second lady and march yourself back to the bookstore for the other 3 books in the Twilight series. If you think you can just plow through the first and leave it there you are SOOOOOOOOOO wrong.
Trust me sister, I'm now on my 4TH read through of all 4 books! They are like crack but not the whack kind dear Whitney taught us about.
BlogBaby's BabyMama
Sweetheart, welcome to the Twilight obsession. I can't wait for Novemeber.
Awesome post. And I hope things will be better soon.
The book is WAY better than the movie, in my opinion. You won't want to stop until you've read all of them.
yeeeeeah...see you in two weeks, depending on how quickly you read. Just go ahead and buy all 4. If you don't, you'll kick yourself in the ass come 2am when you finish one book and can't sleep because you need the next one. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it to you yet, but they are the best worst written books ever. Fabulously horrible. And when you finish them you'll probably be talking about them as if they're real people. Oh sorry, you already did that!
Oh NO A! What to do??
Bummer about the job, but glad to hear that you are feeling more cheerful. I have yet to read the Twilight books. My daughter and all her friends started reading them when they very first came out. She's read them a bazillion times now. So I just can't bring myself to read them w/o feeling like I'm invading her turf. She'd be totally cool about it, so it's just me. BTW, in case in you haven't heard, "cool" is not cool anymore. So, she'd be totally some other term, but I can't keep up on what's cool these days, linguistically speaking. I do know that it's not "hip" or "radical".
Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!! You were the first post above me with a link. Hehe! I already read all your posts!
And honey, Twilight is just the thing to make you forget about the economy for a while. The first book and last book are just make your teeth grit good!
There aint nothing wrong with pretty vampires! :)
Btw... The word verification for my comment is "tater". How awesome is that?
