With this Hand...
I have decided to revive a forgotten art form.
The hand written note.
It's almost gone, and (generally) completely forgotten.
But, I am seeking to bring back this handy form of expression.
Although it may not be as quick as email or as trendy as Twitter, taking the time to sit down, get out your favorite writing instrument and a beautifully adorned bit of stationary (this monkey themed one is from Target) to hand write a note, demonstrates your sincerity.
It shows that you were genuinely affected by the behavior, profoundly touched by the gesture, or passionately moved by the event.
Or, in my case it shows that you were so shocked and amazed by the audacity and outlandishness of the incident that you could think of nothing else to do but to say thank you.
Thank you for reminding me that people really are amazing.
Thank you for allowing me to marvel in the fact that some members of the human race really do suck.
And, thank you for, if nothing else, making me laugh (so I don't cry).
Welcome to Thursday Thank You, a service that was partially inspired by Mama Kat's Thursday Assignment (I picked the write a letter one this week), but mostly inspired by crazy.
Thank you and, you're welcome.
Your Friend,
Dumb Mom
(It reads: Dear General Contractor, Thank you for knocking on my door every evening this week just as I was sitting down to dinner with my family. I guess I was unclear when I informed you I was uninterested in $12,000 of replacement windows. Although painfully obvious that I need them, I am as yet unable to locate 12K in unmarked bills to pay you with. I would greatly appreciate if you would go back to harassing me via telephone; you are much easier to ignore if you are not standing on my porch. XOXO)
Come back next week for another heartfelt thank you.
And, don't forget to enter my giveaway here!

That's a great note. I could write that about the ice cream salesman, the orkin man, some dude who always wants to sell me vacumns, the crazy meat guy.. girl scouts.. on and on and on!
Love the note and love seeing your handwriting...I still do snail mail and handwritten notes. It must not die! :)
Please don't judge me on my poor penmanship, it has been the bane of my existence for years:)
LOL. I should write a note like that and permanently post it to the front door!
Your note is a lot nicer than mine would be if he was knocking on my door every evening
Visiting from Mama Kats...
I love that you actually took the time to write this out by hand!!! I'm sure you'll get extra bonus points for that. Very cute and funny. Now be sure to deliver it or leave it on your front door for him to find! I double-dog dare you!
That little thank you note is the CUTEST : ). Monkeys are adorable, aren't they?
I think handwritten notes are a lost art too. I need to write some this week. Thank you for inspiring me to do that : ).
I have the same problem but it's the Mormons and the Jehovah witnesses on my doorstep.
*visiting from Mama Kat's*
PrIcElEsS!!! Love the note... hopefully he'll get a laugh out of it as well!
That's too funny! I wrote a letter too.
That was so sweet!! HAHA! Man, I don't even know the last time I sent mail that wasn't a bill!
The handwritten note! It's so forgotten these days!
For me it's the dude who wants to paint my house numbers on the curb when 99% of every day there are cars parked just there so who is going to see it? And why do you always ring at bath time or just after the kids are put to bed? I was not nice the last time he came by.
LOL!!!! omg!! u r just to funny but I get it! Like every mom and dad...we totally get it!
I loved it!
Safe hugz,
Dee

I think you should make it Thursday Beatdown and then have #1 video tape you kicking the crap out of the people who warrant these letters. Then #2 can come over and tape the letter to their chest.
I guess that's a little too violent. But it sure would be gratifying!
Hahahahh!! That's awesome!!
I too love a hand written note. I even make my own thank you cards.
Now my cards I tend to give to my family and friends but I may have to save one card for those pesky solicitors.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi! I'm following from the MBC followers club!
Ahahaha! Now that's how to write a note! :-)
I like Laura's idea. Could we laminate something like that and make it a permanent fixture? I sure could use that thing, too! I find your letter so polite, and after 5 or more times, too? Wow.
I know this window guy. he comes to our house at 6 pm too
Oh the art of the handwritten note. I hope you actually put it on your door.
This is awesome and how fun to actually 'write' it out! I think you should send it now!
Aww, it's been too long since I've been here! I love this note! That is just too funny! So honest, I love it! And I'm always loving the pictures of your adorable children! I really could just borrow them sometime you know ;)
Future Mama, that can be arranged:)
That is a great letter!! I do hoope you mail it!
Good one! Can you write one for me for the Kirby salesman, Merry maids, The local lawn care service... :)
JJ Davell, don't worry those are all forthcoming. I have some serious beef with the lawn people...
To think I only use Thank You Notes for gifts. I really need to expand my note-writing abilities.
I had to pop back over because that was FUNNY! Seriously no genius I have to be organized or I won't do ANYTHING!
That letter HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!
