It's FRIIIIIIDAY!!!

I'm not sure why I'm so excited.

I mean, I work weekends.

Guess it's habit left over from the days when Friday night meant happy hour with the coworkers who were cool, and young, and only moderately annoying while sober but hideously funny when drunk.

Or... maybe, just maybe, it's the fact that I do work on the weekends which means I am free, in a sense, from the madness that is my day to day life of child and husband rearing.

It seems a sad state of affairs when you think a work day is akin to a vacation day (hint, hint Carnival Cruise Lines, someone needs a real-life-no-kids-no-work-possibly-no-husband vacation!).

But, let's say that Friday is a wonderful day that marks the end of a long work week for you. And, that on this particular Friday you have forced commissioned the grandparents (or the aunt, or the BFF, or the unsuspecting teenager who has no earthly idea the hell she has signed herself up for) to watch the mini yous while you and the husband (or the BFF, or the one tolerable cool-for-an-older-chick coworker, or the hot, barely-able-to-peel-yourself-off-of boy toy with whom you spend your evenings) are interested in finding outside of the house entertainment (which is absurd 'cause if the kids are away I'm napping not gallivanting around town) I suggest you take in a film.

And, which film should you see?

You guessed it, Extract (you know the one the awesome, gorgeous, witty, and smart people at Miramax sent me to), with Jason Bateman and a whole butt load of other funny people.

It was seriously one of the funniest movies I've seen this year, like right up there with The Hangover (but in a sneaky funny way, like one second it's not funny, next second you're crying laughing at something that is definitely funny, but in an inappropriate way; sorta like me!).

If you are not a fan illicit drug use, assault and battery, and gigolos then you should not watch.

But if you are (and really who isn't?) then this is definitely the film for you.

Plus, the guy who made Office Space made this too and that was like the funniest movie in 1999.

As, if this isn't enough, have you not noticed the comedic genius that Jason Bateman has mysteriously morphed into?

Who knew that the little dude he used to play on that 80's show, was it called Valerie? (and wasn't he that squinty eyed kid from Little House on the Prairie?) would grow up to be so funny?

Did you not see him in Arrested Development (movie slated to be released in 2010!)? That was like the funniest show to ever be canceled.

And, the list of funny crap Jason Bateman has been in goes on: Dodgeball, The Break-Up, Juno.

Totally worth it for him alone. Oh, and Ben Affleck is in it too. I forgot how funny he is.

I'm giving it a double dumb thumbs up and I think even people who aren't really that dumb will like it too!

But, if I'm not convincing enough for you, check out Arch Campbell (who was actually sitting two rows in front of us!) and see what a real movie critic (the kind that does this for a job and actually knows what he is talking about; someone who did not like 17 Again and Bride Wars) has to say about it.

Yes! Jason Bateman was on Little House! I feel like I'm the only one who knows this, mostly because I watched every single rerun of that show on the religious channel two years ago when I was pregnant and couch ridden with the triplets. Imagine my surprise when there he was, Charles' long hoped for son Charles! Altho he was adopted and then had a head injury that made him comatose and then Charles built a temple to God and he was miraculously healed. Almost barfed on that one.

I guess I should take The Husband to see it. You know, to get into his pants afterwards. He's easier as long as you take him out.

Giving away two copies of the movie Extract starring Jason Bateman and Ben Affleck. Contest ends 4/2/10.
